The Infocentre WW2 Nijmegen is a central point for the remembrance tourism in the city of Nijmegen. The centre offers an introduction to the WW2 history of Nijmegen and refers you to other related organisations, museums, monuments, heritages, and audio spots.
For schools, a visit to the Infocentre WW2 is a perfect way to enrich the Second World War curriculum and give students an insight into regional history. The Infocentre WW2 offers, among other things, an interactive regional map, a short film/experience of the history of Nijmegen during the War, and a separate room where exercises can be discussed. The Infocentre WW2 also organises readings and offers an educational programme that can be booked by schools. The centre is the perfect starting point for a historical city walk with a group.
The Infocentre WW2 Nijmegen refers you to handouts and teaching material about the local, regional, and provincial impact of the Second World War. This teaching material is free and was made by WW2 organisations and governments that operate in Nijmegen. We also provide tips and information for presentations and papers about the Second World War on our website.
During the commemorative years of 2019 and 2020, we will cooperate regionally in the field of education. The Infocentre WW2 will be a central player and will work together with existing initiatives in the region. The Infocentre WW2 is currently working with the Freedom Museum and other organisations in Nijmegen on a new regional education project called ‘Kidskrant’. This project targets students in the last years of primary education. With the Kidskrant project, students will go and investigate local places and stories that bring them closer to the Second World War.
